[Vera lets out a little grunt as the two plop down on her white leather couch. She quickly grabs a blanket from behind them and pulls it over them both.]

Good, because I want this more than anything right now.

[Her weight shifts as she relaxes, sinking against the taller girl's chest. It's incredible that she could get so comfortable so quickly.]

You're so strong...

[sunnymerc]

Heehee. I am, aren't i?

[Look, she spends so much time at the gym that she isn't about to pretend to be humble. She knows she is swole.]

Or maybe you're just that tiny. Heh, heh. I'm worried I may squish you.

[heiroglyphs]

I'm not tiny, you're just big.

[She crosses her arms, but her voice is soft. Normally, she'd be much more animated about the distinction, but she's just so damn comfortable right now.]

[sunnymerc]

Am I?

[Soleil leans in to Vera's ear, whispering.]

Say that again. Tell me how big I am.

[heiroglyphs]

[Vera holds tight to the back of Soleil's neck, leaning up to whisper back at the taller girl.]

You're so big...

[And grabbing Soleil's shoulders and pushing her away with a smirk.]

That you piss me off.

[Soleil lets out something between a whine and a giggle.]

What? Nooo. I came here to make the birthday girl feel loved and special, not piss her off. Now she'll never unwrap my present for her.

[heiroglyphs]

[Okay, that whine actually was pretty cute, making the heiress giggle through her nose.]

I swear to god, if you say your present is you...

[sunnymerc]

I didn't bring a package with me, did I?

[EYEBROW WAG.]

I guess you're just lucky I'm not into packages.

[God, all that time around Yin is making the puns rub off on her.]

Oh, jeez.

[She makes a pained expression as she catches on, then rubs her face.]

You'll burn through your birthday girl privilege real fast if you keep that up.

[heiroglyphs]

What? I thought it was funny.

[sunnymerc]

It could use some work.

[Soleil takes her hand from her face and honks Vera's nose.]

[heiroglyphs]

[She swats at Soleil's hand with her comparatively tiny one.]

I guess that means my dream of being a comedienne will never pan out. Father will be most disappointed.

[sunnymerc]

[ Soleil snatches her hand and looks her in the eyes. ]

Well. Don't worry. My lips are sealed. What he doesn't know won't hurt him.

[heiroglyphs]

[Vera's eyes widen. That statement means so many things on many different levels; the sort of thing that Vera wouldn't take seriously most of the time, but the look in Soleil's eyes puts her so much at ease.

There's nothing she can say in response, so instead she'll slowly reach up to grab the collar of Soleil's top, tugging her closer.]

[sunnymerc]

[She isn't going to turn down that invitation. Soleil looks Vera in the eyes as she gets tugged closer and slowly brings their lips together for a short, short moment.]

[heiroglyphs]

[Vera coos against Soleil's lips, eyes fluttering as she fights her desire to prolong this smooch forever. But it's too soon for that. Even if she wants it, she can't allow herself to get so attached, so quickly. She gives her friend a gentle stroke on the cheek with the back of her hand before pulling away.]

[sunnymerc]

[She is upset the kiss ends so quickly, but she is otherwise too happy to do anything but giggle and smile wide.]

You're the cutest birthday girl, Vera.

[Not that Soleil knows anyone else with a birthday today, but.]

[heiroglyphs]

[The comment obviously flusters the heiress, who veils her embarrassed face behind the palm of her hand.]

Honestly, you're relentless. I'm not sure I can handle all these compliments.

[sunnymerc]

If it helps, think of them less as compliments and more as me stating the obvious. You won't get embarrassed if I say the sky is blue, right?

[heiroglyphs]

I think there's a little bit of a difference.

[The remark draws a laugh, however.]

[She shakes her head.]

I don't. I hardly think at all, truth be told. I just say the truth.
