◎ Personality:
”I see a girl before me who has spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted.”
“That’s not even remotely true! Well… not entirely true.”

Weiss is… a bit of a brat.

She doesn’t mean it. Really.

She is the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest Dust mining and refining companies in the world. Everything she’s ever had in her life was given to her. She went to school with her father’s credit card, she uses her family’s Dust in battle free-of-charge, even her Semblance, a power meant to be unique to every single person, was inherited. Weiss is the girl who would have been born with the silver spoon in her mouth, had her father not had it gold-plated beforehand.

Her family’s money and status has caused her to form a bit of a princess complex, complete with a crown she wears as part of her normal ensemble. She is used to getting exactly what she wants, and can become angry and petulant should she not get her way. She’s whiny, she’s stubborn, and she looks down anyone she doesn’t consider her equal. She’s everything you hate about people born into money. After all, someone as absurdly rich as Weiss Schnee must live a life without want and without strife.

Or so you’d think. Weiss has spent so much of her life propped up on her pedestal that she never really learned to connect with other people. She does not have much of a relationship with her parents, and spent her childhood meeting businessmen and politicians rather than children her own age. The only person she’s shown to have a connection with is her older sister who, while caring, is as distant as the rest of her family. Weiss acts similarly to people she meets, coming off cold and uncaring (even her voice actress refers to her as “a bit of a bitch”). Growing up rich, she is also used to people trying to make friends with her and her family as a means of benefitting themselves. Wealth, power, Dust, the Schnees have it in spades, after all. This has further distanced Weiss from pursuing meaningful relationships, and she can be downright hostile towards acts of affection. Why would anyone want to be friends with her if not for her money?

The Schnee Dust Company is the constant target of the White Fang, a Human Rights Organization turned terrorist group consisting of Faunus, a subspecies of human that possess animal-like qualities. Once used as cheap labor for the Schnee Dust Company, the White Fang now strike back at its benefactors “on behalf” of all Faunus. Weiss recounts multiple instances of kidnapping and murder of friends and family of the company. She has grown incredibly distrustful of anyone she does not know, especially Faunus. This is one of the major contributing factors to why she joined Beacon to become a Huntress, and why she pushes herself to be the most capable fighter she can be.

The other major factor is her family itself—most notably her father. Weiss admits that since her father took over the family business, the company has begun operating in a “moral gray-area”. While what the company is doing has not been explored in-canon yet, it has been noted that it has hurt public opinion of the company. Weiss works as hard as she does so that when the time comes for her to inherit the company, she be strong enough to make things right.

Weiss pushes herself harder than most anyone. Though some of this has to do with her upbringing, Weiss has taken personal responsibility for her own growth as a person and as a Huntress. She takes her education very seriously, and applies herself to her studies much more intensely than the rest of her team. She is the foremost expert on Dust among her peers, and has honed her body to the peak of its abilities. She is an accomplished fencer, and takes great interest in the performing arts. She is quite proud of her singing voice, and incorporates elements of dance and figure skating into her fighting style.

All of her training has resulted in a great deal of confidence, so much so that it comes across as having an ego. In her early days at Beacon, Weiss refers to herself as “the smartest girl in class”, because it is very likely that she is so. She is quick to educate her peers on subjects they are unfamiliar with, though her bluntness often comes off as condescending when doing so. Known around school as a bit of a know-it-all, she is not above berating her peers for not knowing certain things, especially when relevant to the situation they find themselves in. But she holds no one to higher standards than herself, and can be quite hard on herself when she doesn’t hold up to her expectations.

Should someone manage to pierce her shell, you will never find a better friend. Though her mannerisms do not change much, she is far more patient and caring for the people that are important to her. She is loyal, generous, and fun-loving, often seen laughing and joking with her team. Though she has a sense of humor, she is terrible at telling jokes, which may be a byproduct of never having anyone to tell them to growing up. She takes personal interest in her friends’ lives, and will often “instruct” them on how to be better at whatever they are trying to accomplish. The effectiveness of this is arguable. In the field, she will gladly put the safety of her team and their mission above herself and has been injured in the past trying to protect her friends.

◎ Powers/Abilities:
Weiss’ combat ability stems from three major factors—Aura, Semblance, and her use of Dust. Aura is the manifestation of one’s soul and the major source of fighting ability within the series. All living creatures possess Aura, and with training can manifest it increase healing, defend from attacks, and utilize the elemental properties of Dust.

Dust is a raw source of energy with various elemental properties. Weiss is the heiress to one of the largest Dust mining and refining companies in the world. As such, she incorporates a wide variety of elemental Dust in her fighting style. The most common elements include Wind, Fire, Water, Lightning, and Earth. These elements can be further mixed to create secondary elements, such as combining wind and water Dust to create Ice element attacks.

A person’s Semblance is a manifestation of their Aura that is unique to that person. Weiss’ Semblance is the creation and utilization of Glyphs, and is the only Semblance that is known to be hereditary. These glyphs function as a hard-energy structure that can both float unaided in air and support her weight. Through utilization of Dust, she can change the function of glyphs. Some of these abilities include:

Elemental Summoning: The glyph unleashes the element corresponding to the Dust used in her attack. Weiss has been known to utilize all basic elements, but most commonly uses Ice.

Time Dilation: The RWBY-equivalent of casting “Haste”, this glyph slows down time for the person standing inside it. This greatly increases the user’s reaction time and physical speed.

Familiar Summoning: The most powerful glyph in the Schnee Family Semblance. This glyph allows the user to summon previously-defeated enemies to fight on their behalf. Familiars summoned using this glyph will take on a ghostly white glow. This is the one ability that Weiss has never been able to master, and believes she will never be able to use. With intense concentration, she was recently able to summon a sword so small she had not even noticed it.

Weiss also fights with a Multi-Action Dust Rapier, and is quite proficient in its use, having trained with it since she was very young. In the hilt is a six-chamber cylinder that functions like a revolver. Each cylinder is filled with Dust, allowing her to change elements on the fly. The rapier’s true edge is also sharpened, allowing her to slash as well as thrust, increasing her versatility. In a world where all weapons have at least one transformation sequence, Weiss’ rapier is incredibly basic, but her use of many types of Dust allows her to be one of the most versatile fighters on the battlefield.
