[ there is something very comforting about being on the same wavelength for once. Jen could feel some of the familiar warmth on her skin as her worries melt away.

she gasps, suddenly, as she realizes that warmth was a bit more literal. ] Uh, speaking of skin. Vera do I feel... hot, to you?

Mhm... [Warm and comfortable, so much in fact she's starting to drift off. It's amazing how being with someone you trust can make it so easy for you to relax, even if she is feeling a little sweaty right now. Kind of like she's in a sauna. And someone's thrown a wool blanket over her.]

Jesus, Yang, what the fuck? [She jumps off of the taller girl, putting some distance between the two.] You're burning up!

I don't know!! [ Jen's going to kind of. gloss over the name thing for the moment. there's more important things to worry about. she looks down at her hands as if there was some kind of answer therein. nothing looked abnormal... ] I'd say I hope I'm not getting a fever, but this? This is ridiculous. [ then, she had a really sudden, and probably stupid idea. ] Quick. Hit me!

[ she rolled her eyes, thinking of a way to egg her on. ] Oh come on, it's not like you'll be able to hit me as hard as I could hit myself! Just hit me!

[Well, that's all the convincing Vera needed. With a frustrated 'fine', she reels back and delivers a hard slap across Jen's face.]

OW! [ okay, that... she was expecting a punch, which she might have been able to roll with. but slaps? slaps sting! ] What the hell, Weiss?!

[You want a punch? Too bad, have another slap from the pissed off mogul. A backhand this time.]

[ okay after THAT one, Jen reaches out to grab at Vera's hands. ] I didn't say slap me, oh my god, what's wrong with you!?

[ Jen was ... mad. she had no right to be because she did literally ask for it, but at the same time there is something very different from being hit with a fist and being bitch-slapped. and now her skin was turning red because, again, her protection wasn't working.

her eyes, though? red as hot coals, to match the temperature of her skin.

-and her hair, too, apparently?? though "catching on fire" is probably a much higher temperature than even that. ]

[Vera's eyes go wide the second she's grabbed. The red eyes, glowing hair and fiery hot skin almost made it feel like she had awoken a demon from hell.]

S-shit, Jen. I'm sorry.

It's - fine! I know I said to hit me but, wow. [ Jen pulled her metal hand away to rub at her cheek. at least that felt cool to the touch. ] If we didn't just almost have a moment I would've thought you had wanted to do that for a while. [ then, and only then, does she notice that the lighting seemed. brighter? near them. she looked over her shoulder and went right from mad to freaked out. ] What the h- MY HAIR IS ON FIRE!?

[Shit shit shit what is even going on right now, Vera remembers Yang getting stronger when she got hit but apparently when she gets angry her hair bursts into flames. This is really bad, at this rate not only will she damage her beautiful white leather couch, but she might also set her apartment on fire! Acting quickly, she decides to make the heroic sacrifice by grabbing a nearby blanket and pouncing on the blonde's glowing head in an attempt to smother the "flames".]

[ Jen has no better idea. even as she was looking around for something - a pillow, a glass of water, a fire extinguisher - it seems Vera beat her to the punch. her surprise and protests were muffled by the blanket and she just fell over from the sudden "help" she was getting. the weirdest thing about this? there's no smoke, and the only reason she felt suffocated like this was the weight of the body and fabric on her. she flailed about some, reaching for Vera's back or shoulders, arms. some way to tap out. ]

[Okay so there's no smoke, and while Jen's body is still hot, it doesn't feel that hot.

...Something isn't right here.

Having mounted the taller girl's stomach, she sits up to slowly remove the blanket that was now twisted around the blonde's head.]

[ which gives Jen the air she needs to breathe. and... laugh, apparently? ]

Okay, okay, look... you're going to be mad at me and I'm sorry but I - knew it would do that. I just... forgot! [ the flames were gone but there's still a bit of a golden glow, particularly along the ends of all her locks. her eyes are back to normal - well, violet-normal not blue-normal. ]

[Vera just... gives her a deadpan stare before dropping the ball of blanket back onto her head.]

Great, thanks for getting my heart rate up at 4 in the morning.

[ she went right back to laughing for a moment before pulling the blanket up off of her enough to peek out from under it. ] Sorry, sorry. I could have picked a better way to do that, but I have to admit, the look on your face was priceless.

My face was priceless. [She mumbles, getting off of Jen's stomach and stumbling her way back onto the couch. Settling down beside her, she crosses her arms in a huff.]

I worry that you're going to die and you laugh at my face.

I guess you're not the only one surprised by the sudden concern.

[ she shifted upright again, finally shedding the blanket completely. ] I really am sorry though. That... didn't seem to do the trick all the way. I felt the kick that I remember from my memories, but that also still hurt like hell.

[ Jen gestured to her face. ] My cheeks must be as red as apples.

It's a good look for you. [She smirks, folding her hands politely in her lap.]

So we got closer, but still not right. My closeness got you hot, but that wasn't enough?

No, it wasn't, and you know what? I take back the apology. You look like you enjoyed that way too much.

[But she will scoot over to give Jen more room on the couch.]

Uh-huh. [ Jen scoots closer, squinting. ] That look on your face says it all.

I thought you liked the look on my face?

[burndownforwhat]

Not that one! [ Jen puffed up her cheeks, though she couldn't hold that for too long because it actually kind of hurt to put that kind of pressure on it. ] Ow. I'm going to need some ice when we're done here.
